Bad blogger

I haven’t been so great at the blog stuff lately. We got back from our little trip to New Orleans last week and I haven’t felt 100% since. I was dealing with some pretty intense back/shoulder pain for a while (this will be an ongoing theme with me, comes with sitting at a computer all the time) and was just pretty miserable for a few days.

I did manage to somehow get some stuff done for the shop, though. So go me.

Anyway, here’s some of the very few pictures I took on our little day trip to New Orleans. There’s so much more I could have taken pictures of. But again… I’m a bad blogger.

Check-In: March 10

What I’m working on – Not much, you guys. Productivity here at Masion du Paper Doll is at an all time low. I did, however, manage to force myself to finish one new listing for the store.

I tried something a little more geometric and modern than my usual stuff. It’s kind of an experiment to see how well this style fits in with everything else. So far, I’m okay with it.

What I’m reading – I’ve been re-reading old Uncanny X-Men comics starting with the Giant Size reboot and working my way forward. I started this last year and took a break. But I’m back at it!

Professor Xavier and Kitty Pryde
I’m at the part where Professor Xavier is a jerk.

I started reading comics in the 90s with the X-Men. These old issues seem so simple and uncomplicated by today’s X-standards. And that’s taking the Phoenix Saga and Days of Future Past into account.

Check-In: March 3

What I’m working on – Not a whole lot this week, unfortunately. I got a new desk this weekend, so I lost a couple days at my computer while that was getting put together. And then there’s the REAL reason I haven’t gotten anything done this week… but we’ll get to that later.

What I’m watching – I rented Darby Forever on Monday. It was super cute and super sweet and more than worth the dollar rental fee. I love Aidy Bryant and I love Retta. I want them both to join our book club. Speaking of…

What I’m reading – Book club is back, bitches. I’ve finished this month’s book, Wicked Temper. It’s probably one of the spookiest books I’ve read (not that I’ve read many, but we did read a zombie book for book club.) It’s one of those books that heavy with atmosphere. More than once I had weird, upsetting dreams because of it. But it’s good. I recommend it.

What I’m playing – Okay. Here’s why I haven’t been productive at all this week. I’ve been playing Stardew Valley. I’ve never watched the development of an indie game like I have this one. I was SO excited when I saw it was finally available on Steam.

Gettin’ my farm on.

It’s basically a Harvest Moon-esque farm-sim-slash-RPG. But it’s so much better than any Harvest Moon I’ve ever played. It’s a surprisingly large world with more robust gameplay. And it’s exactly the kind of thing that’s in my gaming wheel-house. I’m not a fighter, I’m a resource-managing, tool-upgrading lover. It’s just really sweet and charming and fun. And it was all built by one guy. Craziness.

KonMari Step 1: Take my sock drawer… please!

So, you’ve read “The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up” and you’re ready to start working some life-changing magic in your own home. Here’s some quick and easy steps to get you started.

  1. Make your bed so that when you empty your closet and start piling stuff on it, it will look nice for the photos you take for your blog.
  2. Realize that you don’t have ANY trash bags in the house. Run to the store.
  3. Get back and realize it’s basically lunch time and take an hour long break.
  4. Start three hours later than you originally intended.

Despite a a few hiccups at the beginng, I managed to get all my clothes KonMari-ed this past Sunday.

My walk-in closet before the KonMari method.
The closet… before!
